My Story

I guess I should tell you a little of my story ...

I have always struggled with my weight never to the extent of 252 pounds but that weight just crept up on me.  I never even seen it coming.  It was like I woke up one day and there it was ... ugh worst day ever realizing I was 2 hundred plus pounds. I've lived at 252 for the last 8 years and have struggled to get it off.  I've taken 50 pounds off about 2 or 3 times and then somehow got discouraged and gained it back.

I talked about WLS forever but hubby was against it and now he is my biggest supporter.  After 3 years of going back and forth with it we finally agreed that it was time.  The whole preop thing took about 6 months and I was terrified.  Every step closer I kept feeling like i was going to back out.  I was scared of failing at this but somehow pushed thru those feelings.  I never thought that I would be able to get this far but here I am!

So if you're reading this and are going thru these same emotions keep pushing its so worth it! Once I was banded I never looked back and I don't allow those negative thoughts back in my head.  If you want something bad enough you keep trying untill you get it.  I'm going to succeed!

  1. Behind you 100%! You definitely have our support and you will get there! Im looking forward to when im banded because its what i need for that extra lil push. Only 5% of people who diet and exercise alone can lose the weight and keep it off...im not one of those. Thank goodness for alternative methods - there is hope for me yet! Good on you for making this decision to take control! You can do it!

  4. Hi! I found your blog through Lap Band Gal. Welcome to blogland, and congrats on your decision to have weight loss surgery! I had the gastric banding surgery 2.5 years ago...lost a little over 100 pounds and reached my goal weight. I'm now trying "maintenance." I've been through every stage that you're going to go through, so if you have any questions just holler! Stop by my blog...I have a TON of info about the banding surgery (see link at the top of the page.)

  5. I, too, thought about WLS for a number of years and decided last March to begin the journey. I was required to take a 3 month medically supervised weight loss class which I completed in June. Then I stalled for 2 months. My doctor will be submitting for insurance approval next week and then comes a surgery date. I'm hoping this can be done in Dec sometime. I have gone back and forth on this so many times but just got an A1C test (diabetes) back and I'm pre- diabetic. That was the clincher. I'm moving forward and won't allow the negativity to consume me. good luck Chiquita. I will enjoy reading your pos

For you veterans please feel free to speak up when you feel the need the advice and help is very much appreciated.

For you unbanded girls I'm so excited for your journey to begin! Its not easy but it's easier when you are working with your band instead of fighting against it. Follow the band rules and you will be fine.
